JOIN US TO WISH SOUTH AFRICA’S YOUNG MUSICAL BRAND AMBASSADORS BON VOYAGE!

Drakies will showcase their musical talents to UK audiences for their Hear Us Sing UK Tour!

JOHANNESBURG - On Friday 20 September 2024, the world-renowned Drakensberg Boys Choir will depart from OR Tambo International Airport for their Hear Us Sing UK Tour from 20 to 30 September 2024.

We invite you and your news crews to join us in bidding the boys farewell at the airport on Friday, 20 September 2024, at 15:00. You will have the opportunity to interview the Choir's Maestro, tour crew and some of the choir stars. You might even get an impromptu taster of their talent before they board the plane!

Brand South Africa, a key tour partner, will join the choir's friends and family to wish the young South African brand ambassadors farewell and a blessed tour. The Brand South Africa collaboration recognises the Choir's iconic status and Drakies' ability to inspire, empower, and celebrate active South African diversity through art.

This tour will be an electrifying celebration of talent, culture, and music transcending borders. From soul-stirring classical pieces by Mozart and Carl Orff to the infectious energy of Afro-pop music from Miriam Makeba, Mango Groove and Johnny Clegg, our boys are set to deliver performances that will leave UK audiences spellbound and eager for more.

About the Drakensberg Boys Choir: The Drakensberg Boys Choir School (DBCS) aims to prepare boys for life and leadership through excellence in music, academics, sports, and social enrichment in a Christian environment. Known affectionately as "Drakie boys," students are moulded to harness their musical talents to bring hope and positive change in South Africa and globally. With a 57-year history, DBCS is the only established choir school in South Africa, earning international respect and producing young men of exemplary character.

For many of our talented boys, attending this world-class choir school is a long-held dream come true. The blessing of talent does not only come to boys from families that can afford to pay for their children's unique education in the majestic Drakensberg mountains in South Africa. Unfortunately, a boy's world-class talent cannot be realised due to a lack of funding. As a result, the Drakies bursary fund is critical in providing deserving boys with the opportunity to perform on the world choir stage, an honour they would not have had without generous donations to our bursary fund. Proceeds from the UK tour will go to the bursary fund.
