JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA – 30 OCTOBER 2025 - The Drakensberg Boys Choir School (DBCS) is thrilled to announce that ticket sales are officially open for the much-anticipated 2025 Noël Tour – The Promise of Light, taking place from 22 to 30 November 2025. This annual Christmas tradition brings the world-renowned choir's spellbinding sound to audiences across KwaZulu-Natal, with performances in Drakensberg, Balgowan, Greytown, Newcastle, Richards Bay, Ballito, Kloof, and Umhlanga.
"The Noël Tour is one of our most treasured traditions," says Hendrik Bekker, Executive Head of DBCS. "It's the moment when we share the warmth and wonder of Christmas with the communities that support us throughout the year. Each concert shines with the artistry, discipline, and faith that define our boys and the school."
From sacred stillness to joyful celebration
“This year's programme, The Promise of Light, takes audiences on a two-part choral journey that captures both the spiritual reflection and festive joy of the Christmas season,” says Jacques Linde, Head of Choral Activities.
Part I – Sacred and Traditional (The Promise of Light) invites audiences into the warmth of the festive season with a selection of luminous sacred works. The repertoire spans composers such as Karl Jenkins, Morten Lauridsen, Felix Mendelssohn, Jacobus Gallus, and Elaine Hagenberg, featuring beloved choral gems like O Magnum Mysterium, There Shall a Star, and O Holy Night.
Part II – In the Spirit of Christmas! bursts with rhythm, colour, and festive joy as the choir brings the season to life through a vibrant collection of works including Somerkersfees, Jingle Bells, Ding Dong! Merrily on High, Merrie Krismis!, An African Christmas, and Joy to the World. This spirited set celebrates unity, hope, and the unmistakable African energy that defines the Drakensberg Boys Choir.
"This year's Noël repertoire beautifully balances sacred choral brilliance and festive joy," adds Linde. "It's a programme that celebrates light – both the spiritual light of the season and the joy of making music together. The boys are ready to share that light with audiences across KwaZulu-Natal."

Celebrating a legacy of excellence and impact
Now in its 43rd year, the Noël Tour remains one of South Africa's most beloved festive concert series. It follows an exciting year for DBCS, marked by sold-out performances at the Music in the Mountains 2025 festival and Music in the City 2025 at Joburg Theatre, as well as the National Tour, all of which reaffirm the choir's reputation as a world-class ensemble known for its versatility, precision, and spirit.
"The Drakensberg Boys Choir represents the very best of South African talent," adds Bekker. "Our boys perform at a world-class level while balancing academic excellence and personal growth. They leave as well-rounded young men who are not just performers, but ambassadors of hope."
At DBCS, music is more than performance – it's a language of transformation. Through our Bursary Fund, we ensure that talented boys, regardless of background, have the chance to share their light with the world. When audiences purchase tickets, they're not just attending a concert – they're helping us invest in the next generation of South African leaders," Bekker concludes.
